Four. (or One?)

While the main office for ParaEducate looks like a mess of papers and luggage right now, we are preparing for a major event. Interestingly: not Cal-TASH, although that is very important to us. ParaEducate was launched on a leap year. The official release date of ParaEducate was February 28, 2012. All verification of all other original materials officially dates February 29, 2012.

So we have to look at these four years to get to today.

We’ve published four books in four years. We’ve produced over twenty smaller lesson packets for use by paraeducators and teachers in inclusive classrooms. We’ve connected with our audience, met professionals in many states. We’ve connected paraeducators with their teachers, strengthened special education teams, and given students academic and social experiences they might not have ever imagined trying before.

We publish the blog weekly through the academic school year. Through this blog, and especially in the last year, we’ve worked on getting skills and trainings incorporated into our blog reaching those who would not otherwise have access to training.

We reach out to paraeducators, getting information about their days. We help special education teachers find better ways of helping to make their schools inclusive.

And tomorrow, we return to our first venue, Cal-TASH. That first conference for us was just the tip of a very large iceberg. We enjoy meeting people and seeing information we had not previously considered.

Supporting ParaEducate through purchases of our items has helped us maintain our outreach through venues like Cal-TASH.

We’ve also looked at what books we will release this year. It looks like we have at least one book coming this summer, a new volume to Just the Words. We are working on editing no less than eight other books so a second book may happen, and we will tell you if that is on the horizon in the summer.

We’re excited for tomorrow. If you’re at Cal-TASH, find us Friday morning in the Delta Room at 8:30 AM. We look forward to meeting you all.

Paraeducate is a company interested in providing materials, information, and strategies for people working in special education inclusion settings for grades K-12. ParaEducate, the blog, is published weekly during the academic school year on Thursdays, unless a holiday.
